Here’s How Your Fitness Studio Can Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month
By Shaney jo Darden
Just 30 minutes of exercise 3-4 days a week lowers your risk of breast cancer by 30-50%*. Imagine a world where everyone had access to this very fact. That’s the core mission of the Keep A Breast Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign, Fit 4 Prevention.
Each year in October, studios everywhere participate in Fit 4 Prevention by hosting donation-based workout classes to raise money for the Keep A Breast Foundation (KAB). KAB is a nonprofit organization with a mission to empower young people around the world with breast health education and support. They carry out this mission with life-saving initiatives like Check Yourself, Non Toxic Revolution, the Treasured Chest Program, and The Keep A Breast Valley.
Mindbody is passionate about active lifestyles and Keep A Breast’s mission is close to our heart. Will you join us and help support the virtual Fit 4 Prevention campaign this year?
Here are three ways your fitness studio can get involved:
Host a class at your studio
If you’re able to host in-person classes where your fitness studio operates, you can sign up today to host a donation-based class during the month of October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Upon registering, you’ll receive all the tools to promote your class to your audience.
Bottom line: it’s quick to register, easy to host, and a click to donate.

Get involved virtually
Since fitness studios have been faced with the uncertainty of multiple openings and closings during this pandemic, you might not be able to host an in-person class during this time. However, you can still get involved by hosting a donation-based class virtually. Once you’ve signed up to host virtual class through the Mindbody Funraise page, make sure you promote your donation-based class through social media, email campaigns, and on your website to let your clients know how they can get involved. Fit 4 Prevention has also created a social media toolkit full of downloadable materials to help you take your efforts to the next level.
Make a gift that is meaningful to you
Keep A Breast’s goal is to raise $1,000,000 for breast cancer awareness and prevention during the Fit 4 Prevention campaign. Even if you can’t host a class, you can still make a difference by making a gift in any amount that is meaningful to you. To put your special spin on it, ask your friends and family to join you in making a gift.
