4 Salon Marketing Tips for Fall

With summer almost halfway over, a new season is right around the corner—and with a new season comes a ton of new trends and opportunities to increase revenue. It’s important for any business owner to stay in-the-know. Otherwise, your salon runs the risk of falling behind (see what I did there?). There are new hair trends to try, new makeup trends to master, and new nail trends to own.    More importantly, there are a bunch of new beauty trends to learn about and marketing tips you can uncover to help your salon make this season its most profitable one yet.   Below are the best four salon marketing ideas for you to give a try this fall:

1. Post photos of your creations

If you’re not doing this already, you really need to start this fall. Facebook gives salon owners a free (...yes, free!) opportunity to not only promote their business verbally but more importantly visually. This fall, don’t just tell customers but show them why you’re the best at what you do. At the risk of being completely cliché—remember, a picture is worth a thousand words.

2. Maximize on seasonal specials

Add a little "pumpkin spice" into your life this fall and attempt to create seasonal specials to help set your salon apart from the rest. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy, the point here is just to generate a little buzz, give clients something to be excited about. Try something like $5 of your next cut here, 10% of your manicure there. It's nothing too extreme, but still, something to talk about. A little buzz (maybe from an actual pumpkin spice latte) can go a long way in terms of attracting more clients to your business.

3. Become a master at client retention

On average, it’s been found that attracting new customers can cost 6-7x more than prompting repeat business, and on top of that, repeat customers typically spend about 67% more per transaction. That’s why this fall is the perfect time to integrate client retention software into your existing appointment book or salon management system to help fill your schedule ­ automatically. You can automatically send out text message/email promotions to help draw in lifelong customers and fill last-minute openings. In the long-run, this can help save your business a ton of money when it comes to advertising expenses and boosts your overall revenue with purchases—a win-win! 

4. Capitalize on upcoming events

School will be back in session before you know it! You know what that means—haircuts galore and you might as well capitalize on it. Not only is the first day of school the perfect time to reveal a fresh new 'do, but school pictures usually take place in the beginning of the first semester—and homecoming arrives soon after.

And since it's never too early to start planning, upcoming holidays that your salon can take advantage of are just a couple months away. Although they may seem far off in the distance, it's time to start thinking about your strategies for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday. And right after that, there are plenty of opportunities for boosting your sales and revenue during the holiday season.
