6 Holiday Marketing Strategies for Your Med Spa

The holidays present an opportunity for med spas to acquire new business and gift their services in engaging and enticing ways. There are various holiday marketing strategies that can dovetail with your current plan, help you increase sales, and grow your membership—without taking too much of your time.

Ready to take your holiday marketing to a whole new level? Check out these ideas to get you started.

1. Live in-person events

The holiday season is known for its festive get-togethers. Since your customers are in the spirit of gift-giving, now’s the perfect time to introduce new products, services, or holiday specials at live events.

Invite your existing members to bring friends and family to holiday events. Try these ideas:

  • Holiday open house or party
  • Cocktail hour or meet-and-greet with your team
  • Potluck meal with a tour of your location
  • Treatment or product demonstrations

Be sure to promote your events in advance through customized email campaigns, text messages, in-house displays, and word-of-mouth.  Record contact information for everyone who walks through your door. You'll likely want to organize a follow-up campaign to promote discounts, packages, and add-ons and to stay top of mind long after the event.

2. Virtual live events

Virtual live events are a great alternative to in-person gatherings. These could be as simple as Facebook or Instagram Live holiday "wine and shop" parties. Offer a 15% discount on purchases made within 24 hours of the event to clients who virtually bring a friend.

Plan ahead with questions and activities to boost engagement, and offer discounts, coupons, bundle specials, draws, or prizes for participation.

Other ideas for holiday virtual events for medical spas:

  • Treatment demonstration via Zoom, Facebook Live, or Instagram Live
  • Product demonstration for skincare treatments
  • New product launch with demo or explanation
  • "Ask-me-anything" with a provider

Before you go live, test run your sound and video quality, background, and any technical settings that might need adjusting. Avoid sounding scripted but do prepare a structure for your narrative. Leave time for audience participation through a Q&A session or even a quiz.

3. Retail bundles and holiday baskets

To sell even more retail in your medical spa, offer retail bundles or holiday gift baskets. Bundles and baskets make gifting spa products simple for your clients. For example, create a basket with your most popular products and market them for the holiday season.

And make sure to promote these offers and discounts across every marketing channel, including email marketing, social media, and your physical space, too. Spreading the word about your spa's promotions is the first—and perhaps most important—step toward generating more retail revenue.

4. Gift cards

You may already include gift cards in your med spa marketing strategies, so why not boost their promotion during the holidays?

Encourage members to purchase gift cards toward spa treatments when they aren't sure exactly what the recipient might like. Use holiday colors and images to evoke that holiday feeling and make the cards available in a wide range of dollar values. You can also reward the buyer with something they can use themselves, like a free 10-minute aromatherapy scalp massage or a discount on a product or service.

Make it easy for customers to purchase online, on mobile, or in-store, and allow gift cards to be picked up, mailed, or emailed and printed.

5. Gift-giver promotions

Don't forget to reward gift buyers for their purchases by offering discounts on services or products.

For example, create a holiday spa promotion like "buy a gift card and get 15% off your next service," or "spend $100 on gift cards and get a free $20 gift card." If your client just got a facial, upsell the cleanser or serum used during the treatment by offering a discount on it. Or bundle products together at a discount, pairing less popular products with your best-sellers. This way, you can sell products that might otherwise go unclaimed on your shelves.

6. Social media holiday challenges

A social media challenge is a simple marketing tactic that encourages engagement with existing followers, utilizes user-generated content, and might even attract more social media traffic, leads, and sales.

For example, host a seven-day Instagram challenge. Set a different daily theme and invite followers to post pictures using your specified hashtag.

Potential challenges:

  • Show us your skincare routine
  • Share your face with your favorite face mask
  • Share your favorite beauty meme or quote
  • Share your best anti-aging tip

Don’t forget to remind followers to encourage their friends to participate in your holiday challenges. You can also use Instagram to poll your audience about their go-to treatments and their favorite at-home self-care tips to help increase engagement.

Then, at the end of the challenge or your poll, randomly select a winner for a gift basket or a virtual gift card to enjoy services or purchase products.

Promote your holiday marketing strategies

As with regular marketing, when it comes to holiday marketing strategies, connection with clients is key. Before investing time and money in holiday specials, decide which marketing channels work best given your current and potential clientele, as well as your marketing resources.

Email marketing

Email is a great way to promote holiday discounts and deals to current and previous clients because they're already familiar with your products and services.
