4 Ways to Take Advantage of Gift Cards When It's Not the Holiday Season

Gift cards fly off the shelves during the holiday season. But after the last bit of tinsel and garland have been put away, it is sometimes harder to see the ways you can drive post-holiday sales. Keep your eyes on the prize and consider some of these sales incentives utilizing your branded gift cards.

Your gift card needs to be custom printed with an attractive design. Make sure it also includes your branding. Be sure that your clients are aware you sell gift cards. Some ways that this can be done is to put signage on your door, or at your front desk. Perhaps add a line about it in your email signature and or social media profiles.

It also helps that your gift card can be packaged nicely, too. Try custom gift card holders, these can also be printed with your branding. That way, your gift card and your gift card holder are coordinated in their design, creating a nice gift presentation.

On to some selling and marketing suggestions that will work outside of the holiday season.

1. Donations

Perhaps you might want to donate a gift card to local community organizations. They, in turn, can use it for gifting to their members. Giving back to your community positions your brand in a positive light and promotes goodwill in general. It certainly is an effective way to get your name out there.

2. Giveaways

Sometimes you must give a little to reap the rewards. Cast a wider net for prospective clients through a raffle. It could also be a regular contest. Have the raffle participants fill out a form, giving their contact details in exchange for one entry to win one of your gift cards. Offering a gift card prize puts a physical thing in the prizewinner’s hands, instead of simply stating something like “you’ve won a prize!”.

3. Rewards

Rewarding your customers for their loyalty is a smart way to keep them coming back time and time again. Showing your appreciation periodically keeps customers happy. Happy customers talk about good experiences with their friends and on social media.

4. Create a BOGO offer

One creative way to promote your business and your gift cards is a type of “BOGO” offer. Instead of the “GO” part (getting one free), make it a “Buy One, Get a $XX Gift Card” promotion.
