3 Tips to Organize Your Salon or Spa for Fall

Fall is right around the corner, and the slow, leisurely days of summer will soon come to an end. You know what that means: the “back-to-school” buzz begins. You also know what this time of year means for your business: more customers, more appointments, more everything, pretty much. 

This is why now is the perfect time to plan for the season and get organized. Because if you wait too long, you’ll wind up scrambling to get organized at the last minute, just when the fall rush begins, and you know that probably isn’t the best idea.

So, here are three easy tips to help you start to get your act together as the busy back-to-school season begins.

1. Start planning now

You know all those things you always tell yourself you’ll do when you have some downtime? Well, now is that time, so let’s put it to good use! Because you know that when you get busier in the fall you’ll begin to deprioritize items on your to-do list, now is a great time to plan out your marketing calendar, put staff schedules together, and make a list of supplies to order. Taking just a little bit of time now to get organized will save you loads of time during the busy fall rush!

2. Declutter your digital and physical space

Doesn’t it feel good to get rid of things you no longer need and start freeing up space? Well, now is a perfect time to do it! Start with that stack of papers on your desk. Next, get rid of any supplies that haven’t been used in over a year. Once the physical decluttering is done, get to the digital: is your email account clogged with emails you can easily delete? Go through your account, and organize emails into folders. Archive what needs to be saved, and clear some space in your inbox. Go through your desktop and move files elsewhere that don’t need to be there. Now, doesn’t that feel refreshing?

3. Evaluate your operations

Are your business practices as efficient as they could be? Could your website use some sprucing up? Evaluate the way you set up your beauty or wellness software and ask yourself the following questions. Could your scheduling processes use some streamlining? What about your point of sale process? The list goes on and on. But taking some time now to take a closer look at your operations and how you can do things more efficiently will free up extra time when business gets busier.

Although it’s easy to want to enjoy these last few leisurely weeks, in the long run, you’ll thank yourself for looking ahead and getting the ball rolling. With these tips in mind, you’re on your way to a successful fall season!
