These Los Angeles Fitness Studios Are Taking Instagram By Storm

By Denise Prichard

January 18, 2024

You’d have to be living in la-la land to be unaware of how popular Instagram is these days. In fact, it’s popularity garners the attention of 1 billion active monthly users and 500 million active daily users—those are numbers Los Angeles fitness studio owners should avoid sleeping on. Not only is engagement one the highest on Instagram relative to other social media platforms, but it’s also one of the top ways LA fitness buffs discover new fitness trends in the city.

When it comes to Instagram marketing, we know it isn’t easy to nab the attention of your target audience, especially with so many other Los Angeles-based fitness businesses flooding the platform with highly-engaging content. In fact, a recent study conducted by Mindbody revealed that 80% of fitness businesses use Instagram to connect with their clients and promote their services.

But have no fear, LA. We’re here to help your fitness business become Insta-famous just like these other Los Angeles fitness studios. Whether you run a yoga studio, CrossFit gym or cycle bar, you’ll get some serious inspiration from our list below.

1. LIT Method

This studio and their Instagram account make us want to want to “get LIT”—but in a seriously healthy way. LIT Method prides itself on creating a program that is different than any other studio in Los Angeles by fusing personal training and physical therapy to create a well-rounded workout that utilizes water rowers, resistance bands, TRX, and foam rollers. That means no running, jumping, or weights. We can definitely get on board with that!

Even though their studio’s MO may be about low impact, their Instagram page is anything but that. Here’s what really catches our eye:

  • Their cohesive use of LIT Method’s brand colors—red, black, and white. The consistency makes it impossible to forget you’re scrolling through their motivational Instagram page.

  • Their tribe is called the Bolt Cult (based on their logo), and they’ve created the hashtag #boltcult to set their studio apart from the rest of the competition. They encourage their clients to use this hashtag in their posts to help create a sense of community.

  • They highlight their clients and their instructors in their Instagram stories and on their page.

2. One Down Dog

One Down Dog is a yoga studio that inspires its clients to “keep yoga odd” and we can certainly dig that!  This female-owned and inclusive yoga studio is a place that encourages everyone to get on their mat and create awesomeness while having oodles of fun.  If folks are looking for an LA spot that offers unique yoga classes, upbeat playlists, a welcoming staff, and a community of light-hearted yogis—then they need to look no further.

The amazing community vibe doesn’t stop there—they also embrace it on their Instagram page. Here are some other reasons why their Instagram makes us swoon.

  • They have a catchy hashtag they own called #keepyogaODD. They encourage their clients and the entire yoga community to have fun with their practice and to not take themselves too seriously on the mat or in life.

  • Their Instagram Story Highlights focus on their inspirational workshops, daring yoga challenges, and their out-of-studio yoga adventures.

  • They post motivational quotes to help their clients conquer their fitness goals.

3. Rise Nation

Why rise? Well, Rise Nation offers one of the most unique workout concepts not just in LA—but in multiple locations. This alternative fitness regimen combines climbing and cardio to help clients get an intense full-body workout that produces fast, satisfying results with a very low risk of injury.

Not only does this workout aim to reach new heights, but their Instagram account is something to take note of. Here’s what makes them rise to the occasion:

  • They’ve coined the term and the hashtag #RiseNation to help create a community within their studios.

  • They post pictures and Instagram Stories of their clients to help motivate their customers and the popular #fitspo community on Instagram.

  • Their Instagram Story Highlights feature videos that take place inside the studio so new students and prospective clients can get a taste of what their studio offers.

These are just some of the LA-based Mindbody clients that are taking Instagram by storm. And guess what? You can be one of them too. By getting inspired by some of the strategies these studios have put in place and implementing some of our tips in our Instagram guide, you’ll be Insta-famous in no time.
