Mindbody Named One of the Most Innovative Wellness Businesses in the Industry by Fast Company

With our perseverance in being passionate about connecting the world to wellness, we have some exciting news to share with you. Fast Company recently released its annual list of the most innovative companies in the wellness world, and Mindbody is proud to be on this list alongside other game-changing companies like Peloton, Alo Yoga, and Tonal. This marks the second consecutive year that our company has been recognised in the wellness space. This list honors businesses making a profound impact on both industry and culture, with Mindbody recognised as a thought leader in the wellness industry.
How Mindbody leads innovation in the wellness industry
At our core, Mindbody is wellness experience technology. We enable powerful wellness experiences—for both our customers and the consumers they serve through innovative and intuitive software solutions. Said differently, our technology helps bring authentic moments to life.
The past year hasn’t been easy for anybody—especially for our customers and their clients. With our world practically changing overnight, time was even more of the essence to help our customers navigate the evolving landscape. This included our expedited rollout of our Virtual Wellness Platform—our livestreaming and video on demand platform that was released ahead of schedule to provide fitness studio owners with additional revenue sources as they navigate in-person capacity restrictions or business closures during the pandemic.
“Our team moved very quickly when COVID-19 hit,” says Sunil Rajasekar, President and Chief Technology Officer for Mindbody. “We knew that our customers needed a way to provide their services virtually and they needed it ASAP.”
The platform integrates seamlessly with Mindbody’s turn-key CRM, scheduling, point of sale, and e-commerce capabilities to incorporate an exclusive paywall and secure hosting link for livestream fitness classes or video on demand offerings. With this fluid integration, we positioned our wellness customers to offer hybrid memberships inclusive of both in-studio and virtual experiences.
But we didn’t just show up for our customers last year—we also showed up for the clients of our customers who were looking for ways to stay on top of their fitness goals while sheltering-in-place.
“We built our Virtual Wellness Platform from the ground up since we wanted to optimize it for wellness as opposed to building a generic virtual service and released it in a matter of weeks,” says Rajasekar. “Since then, we have been iterating on it continuously with a goal of providing the best-in-class virtual service to our customers that is tightly integrated with the rest of the platform to make it easy to use for our customers and their clients.”
More than software, we are your wellness business partner
But don’t just take our word for it—our customers located all over the world were eager to adopt a hybrid business model to thrive during the pandemic and to be there for their customers. “There are clients that do not have the ability to come into a studio, or there isn’t a studio around them. And that's not fair for them to not have that opportunity,” says Shannon Higgins, owner of Studio Barre and Mindbody customer.
“With livestreaming through Mindbody, not only is it available in the Mindbody app for those 2.1 million users to find it, but on top of that, our own clients can go and buy one class,” Higgins continued. "Over the years, Mindbody grew just at the same time I needed them to. Because of that relationship, it brought us to the point where as a franchisor, I wouldn't consider anything else for my franchisees but Mindbody."
