- How long does it take to open a US Merchant Account and what is the process?

Opening a merchant account can take up to two weeks.
You’ll need to fill out the merchant account application and provide us with a copy of a voided check or bank memo (so we know where to send your funds) as well as a business license. Some applications may require additional documentation; you’ll be contacted by a Merchant Account Sales Specialist if we need additional documentation.
When you fill out the application, you'll need to have your social security number, Federal Tax ID, bank account number, routing number and other business-related information on hand.

- How long does it take to open an International Merchant Account?

- I have poor credit or I am currently in active bankruptcy. Will I be approved for a merchant account?

If you are in active bankruptcy, you will not be approved for a merchant account. If you merely have poor credit, you may be asked to provide additional documentation so that an informed decision can be made regarding approval.
- What are MINDBODY Processing's merchant account rates and how do they compare?

We keep it simple -- a three tiered pricing structure based on the types of credit cards you process and a $6 per month statement fee. At the low end of the tiered pricing we charge 1.59% + .20 cents per transaction. But that doesn’t mean we charge exorbitantly on the higher tiers, in fact, we offer some of the lowest rates in the industry when compared to processors offering a similar level of features and functionality.
- I already have a merchant account processor. Will my current processor work with MINDBODY software?

MINDBODY clients are not required to use an integrated merchant account. However, because other processors don't fully integrate with MINDBODY you won't be able to use key aspects of the software, for example the online store or recurring billing.
Applying for a merchant account through one of MINDBODY’s approved vendors will ensure your credit card processing integrates directly with the MINDBODY software so that your transactions and reports all use the same data.

- What does it mean that MINDBODY is Level I PCI compliant, and why is it important?

Level I Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance means MINDBODY meets the credit card industry's highest security standard, so you can sleep soundly at night knowing your data is safe. We store and encrypt your clients' credit card numbers and billing information, back it up daily and securely store it offsite. Each year, we must go through a rigorous audit to assure we maintain those high standards.
- Is my business PCI compliant because MINDBODY is PCI compliant?

No. There's a distinction between PCI requirements for service providers and those for merchants. MINDBODY is considered a service provider. Businesses that accept credit cards from their customers are considered merchants and must meet their own PCI compliance standards. This is true for all merchants, regardless of the point-of-sale system they use or their respective locations.
As your service provider, we take the protection of customer and payment account data very seriously. We understand the risks and financial costs that a compromise can pose to your business. In our compliance with PCI DSS, we must require all of our merchants to validate their PCI DSS compliance status with us. We have taken steps to make the process as simple as possible for you.
While participation in the PCI Compliance Service Assistance Program helps to significantly mitigate the risk of a security breach or data compromise, participation does not guarantee to prevent a security breach or data compromise. You must maintain the highest levels of data security at all times.
- Who is TransFirst, and how do they differ from MINDBODY Processing?

In 2010, MINDBODY contracted with an established processing company, TransFirst, to handle many of the underwriting and risk assessment aspects of the merchant account application process. Once approved for an account, you will communicate almost exclusively with MINDBODY Processing staff.
- I already have a MINDBODY merchant account that uses Capital Payments. Can I switch to a new merchant account with MINDBODY Processing?

MINDBODY is currently in a non-compete contract with Capital Payments, so we are unable to move clients from Capital Payments to MINDBODY Processing. With that said, there is no benefit to switch from Capital Payments to MINDBODY Processing as processing fees and software functionality are the same.
