What These Denver Wellness Trends Mean for Your Fitness Business

By Denise Prichard

May 24, 2022

We’ve already covered the fact that Denver is one of the most dedicated cities in the country when it comes to fitness, but our research has also revealed that Denver is interested in participating in new wellness trends, which could mean big things for Denver fitness studio owners.

If you’re one of the 500 million people using Instagram on a daily basis, then you have undoubtedly seen your feed filled with tons of fitness and wellness influencers boasting about new trends in their industries. Whether we’re talking about someone endorsing supplements for muscle recovery or watching someone freeze their buns off during a cryotherapy session, one thing is certain–people are more interested than ever in enhancing their wellness routine–and Denver is no exception. And since wellness and fitness tend to go hand-in-hand, the intrigue of trying new wellness trends could help Denver fitness studio owners increase their overall revenue by partnering like-minded wellness businesses in their area.

In a recent survey Mindbody conducted, the greater metro Denver area beat out multiple cities with over 50% of Denverites indicating they regularly participate in getting professional wellness services. With so many people stimulating the wellness industry in this area, we were able to compile some data to help us indicate what the biggest trends in the wellness space are now, and what to look out for in the near future.

How are Denverites currently recovering from their workouts?

At the moment, massage is by far the most popular wellness service in Denver across all age categories with 72%. Chiropractic care and nutritional counseling follow in the top three, with 40% and 14%, respectively.* However, when broken down by age groups, there are differences in what piques their interests when it comes to wellness trends.

What are Denver fitness buffs looking to try next for their recovery needs?

If you own a Denver metro fitness business, you’ll want to take note of which wellness trends are catching the attention of your clients. You may have noticed that current wellness trends varied among age groups in the section above–and the same can be said about up-and-coming recovery techniques.

After Denverites hit the gym, here’s how they’re interested in recovering next:

  • 18-25 year olds: 35% want to try acupuncture, 29% raindrop therapy/essential oil treatment, 29% IV therapy, and 24% infrared sauna
  • 26-45 year olds: 27% want to try acupuncture, 26% acupressure, 26% hydrotherapy and 22% floatation therapy
  • 46-65 year olds: 38% want to try acupuncture, 34% non-surgical body sculpting treatments, 20% acupressure, and 20% detox programs*

Based on these stats, acupuncture and acupressure are appealing to the masses. Younger generations also seem to be intrigued by extremely new trends like IV therapy and floatation tanks. If you notice your clientele is of a younger demographic, partnering up with these trendy businesses could be a very beneficial way to increase your bottom line at your fitness studio.

As a Denver fitness business owner, you’ll want to do the following:

  • Take a look at these wellness trends and identify which ones complement your fitness studio.
  • Think about aligning your fitness business with like-minded wellness professionals and partner up to create a unique experience for your clients.
  • Talk to your current clients and see what they are doing right now to recover from exercise and what they are interested in trying next.
