These Boston Fitness Studios Have Wicked Awesome Instagram Accounts

By Denise Prichard

There’s no doubt about it; when it comes to social media marketing, Instagram is the heaviest hitter. With over one billion active monthly users and over 95 million photos and videos shared per day—not to mention the recent discovery that 80% of fitness businesses use Instagram to promote their brand*, it’s vital for your Boston fitness studio to create an account that stands out.

With numbers like that, it’s no wonder that engagement on the ’gram is highest relative to other social media platforms, making it one of the best places for your Boston fitness studio to connect with current and future clients. Although creating a visually appealing account seems like a daunting task, Instagram marketing is not only effective—it can be a lot of fun, too! In fact, we found quite a few Mindbody customers based in the Boston area who are crushing the Instagram game  that you can draw some serious inspiration from.

After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? Right. So, let’s get to it—here are five Boston-based fitness studios heating up our Instagram feeds.

1. North End Yoga

Whether you’re looking for an invigorating yoga class, a renewing Pilates class or a toning barre class, this place has got you covered. North End Yoga has made their mark in the Boston fitness scene as one of the most popular places to lengthen and strengthen—and they also happen to have an enviable Instagram account. Tapping into their studio’s MO, their Instagram reflects peace, serenity and inclusivity. We have to admit, their account exudes the perfect balance of simple black and white photography with the occasional photo that embraces pops of color.

What else do we love about North End Yoga’s account?

  • They frequently highlight their customers and post videos of their classes.

  • They announce special workshops and guests—like Kino McGregor (swoon) to entice their clients to practice with some of the most influential yogis in the biz.

  • They post puppy photos and pictures of adorable toddlers who participate in their KidPowerment Yoga classes. Need we say more?

2. Barre Groove

Former NFL cheerleader Alanna Perry has created one of the most unique and fun fitness studios in the Boston area. Also lovingly known as just ‘BG,’ Barre Groove’s class schedule is a delightful mix of barre, bounce workouts, and pom classes. BG prides itself in creating a safe and inclusive space while offering upbeat classes that are driven by fun music and motivational instructors. And the fun and inspiration don’t stop there—just sneak a peek at their Instagram account.

Here’s what drew us to Barre Groove’s Instagram account:

  • They post daily Instagram stories highlighting their classes for the day.

  • They promote their ongoing Heels Workshop (yep—dancing in heels) in their bio and in their photos.

  • It’s obvious Barre Groove promotes a strong community vibe. They frequently take group shots of not only their instructors but their clients as well. You can also find them sharing Instagram stories in this manner, too!

3. Recycle Studio

Recycle Studio is all about “good vibes only every damn day” according to their website—and after scrolling through their Instagram account, we certainly believe them. Regarded as the first indoor cycling studio in Boston (they opened their doors back in January of 2011), they offer a variety of smile-inducing and stress-eradicating cycling classes that are choreographed and also set to candlelight. Sounds pretty dreamy if you ask us.

Speaking of dreamy, here are some of the things that really piqued our interest with Recycle Studio’s Instagram:

  •  They post pictures of their instructors with their cycling clients on a regular basis.
  • They promote their stylish, branded apparel, and swag on the page.

  • They frequently post images of the vibrant interior of the studio that instantly grabs your attention.

  • They created their own popular hashtag, #TAPTHATBOOTY, to help engage with their clients and the entire #fitspo nation.
