3 Signs It’s Time to Update the Website for Your Beauty Business

You’re in the beauty business, so it only makes sense your salon’s website is eye-catching and downright gorgeous, right? We all know that having a website that stands out can make a huge difference for your beauty business, but the look and feel of your salon’s website is only the tip of the iceberg.

Your website can be one of the most influential marketing tools for your beauty business, and since the capabilities of websites are ever-evolving and crucial to attracting clients, it’s important to update it every now and then.

If you’ve been in business for a while, it may be time to revisit your website design and incorporate a few key elements to help improve its functionality. Here are three signs it may be time to give that beauty business website a facelift.

1. It isn’t optimized

Run a Google search for beauty businesses in your area and notice where your business falls in the list of results. If you don’t see your beauty business in the results of the first page, odds are, potential clients are finding your business either. If you’d like to improve your ranking on search engines across the board, it’s imperative you optimize your website.

Not sure how to optimize your website? Here are some tips:

  • Use HTTPS: To help improve search engine optimization (SEO), make sure your website URL starts with a lock symbol and “https” so you know your visitors are securely navigating your website. Today, search engines will leave your website in the dust if this security standard isn’t included—and that means your chances of nabbing new clients are significantly decreased.
  • Take advantage of keywords: A successful SEO marketing plan starts with keyword research to see what terms your target audience is using to find your business, services, or products online. Not sure where to start? Use Google Keyword Planner to pinpoint the best keywords to use throughout the content of your website.
  • Include metadata: These are the short descriptions embedded in your website’s content that Google will show on their search results pages. By having keyword-focused descriptions, you can significantly increase your rankings on all search engines.
  • Use alt text in your images: Search engines look at embedded image titles when crawling websites, so descriptive alt tags can help search engines better understand what your business is all about.

2. Your images could use some sprucing up

The images you use on your website can speak volumes about the esthetic of your beauty business. When evaluating the images on your website, there are a few important points you should take into consideration:

  • Use images that are relevant to your business and the services you provide to your clients.
  • Stay away from animated images and use real people your customers can identify with.
  • Use inclusive images to celebrate diversity so all your potential clients feel represented.
  • As mentioned above, make sure all your images are tagged with alt text.

Worried your selection of images will break the bank? Have no fear—there are multiple websites that offer stunning, royalty-free images you can use on your website like Unsplash.

3. Your website flow is a no-go

When it comes to website user experience, there’s nothing worse than a layout that sparks confusion and feels disjointed. When redesigning the website for your beauty business, make sure it’s easy to navigate and understand.

  • Consider what you want to get out of a person visiting your website. You want them to book a service at your salon, right? Make sure their customer journey is quick and seamless by allowing them to book an appointment through your salon software with a minimal number of clicks.
  • Evaluate your call-to-actions (CTAs) and make sure they are front-and-center on your website’s homepage. If you’re running a special for new customers (or even existing customers) make sure it’s displayed in a way your audience can see it.
  • Organization is key on your website. Make sure all content is clear and to the point. The descriptions of your services should be concise so your visitor knows exactly what to expect when they book an appointment with you or one of your staff members. The last thing you want is a page loaded with irrelevant copy which could ultimately encourage a potential client to leave your website.

When redesigning the website for your beauty business, these are just a few things you need to consider. Luckily, we’ve put together an in-depth guide that will help you analyze your current website and give you even more tips on how to create a successful website.
