How to Make the Most of BOLD, From a Business Consultant's Perspective
By KK Hart
Conference events are meant to further educate and expand experiences for personal and professional success. They’re also a great way to take a step back from your busy day-to-day to get re-inspired.
Although the BOLD Conference is meant to be a fun, wellness-focused celebration (and it really is), the most important part of the event is what you take away as a fitness, beauty, or wellness entrepreneur.
If you tap into the advice our BOLD speakers share, and strategically implement their strategies into your own business, you’ll enjoy much more than a great three days away—you’ll kick-start an entire year’s worth of planning and strategy. Now that sounds like a party we can all get excited about.
Ready to make the most of your BOLD experience? Here’s how to do it:
Reset and refocus
One of the most prevalent, yet under-discussed, issues in business ownership is burnout. Burnout often occurs when an entrepreneur is inundated with details, has an overloaded schedule, and is burdened with too many responsibilities. From sleepless nights to mental fog and an inability to make sound decisions, regardless of how burnout might manifest for you, over time, it’s likely to stifle the growth of your business. (Check out my previous post on this topic, including how to more effectively divide your time between self and business.)
So, what can you do if you feel like you’re hitting a plateau? The BOLD Conference is a perfect opportunity to get out of town and refresh your mind. An added bonus: It’ll help you develop a plan of action to increase efficiency and help prevent future burnout.
While you’re at the conference, take one—or a few—of the exciting wellness classes, go for a walk at the end of a long day of education, and take a moment to connect with peers who can relate to what you’re going through as an entrepreneur. You’ll definitely want to attend the BOLD Bash to unwind and dance the night away, too.
Create a plan
Many of my fellow BOLD speakers provide expert insight into various topics, including what to expect from competitors, consumers, and trends in an ever-changing marketplace.
To prepare, take time before the conference to assess the health of your business. Figure out what concerns you have and what needs you want to address; this will help you determine which sessions to attend.
For example, is your business generating profit and not just revenue? Are you marketing efficiently and focusing on ROI instead of simply what’s easy? How are you growing and developing your staff?
Check out the complete agenda, including breakout session topics, to plan your personal BOLD schedule and/or how you’ll “divide and conquer” with the rest of your team.

Keep your KPIs in mind
The success of businesses today is determined by their key performance indicators (KPIs). As you decide what topics you want to learn about at BOLD, it’s a good idea to consider the next month, quarter, and year at your business. What goals do you want to achieve? What innovative approaches are you looking to vet? BOLD is a great time to learn current best practices and strategies to make your KPI goals a reality.
Want to dive deep into your metrics? The experts at MINDBODY University on Tuesday, August 13, can help you get the most out of your software and provide specific techniques to expand your business. If you’re a beginner or an advanced owner, there’s a track for you.
Whether you decide to attend MBU or not, don’t miss your chance to meet with a MINDBODY Consultant for a free 30-minute session to discuss your KPIs. Although MBU attendees will get first dibs on availability, all BOLD attendees can take advantage of these one-on-one appointments. Space is limited, so make sure you sign-up first thing at the Certifications booth.
Take home what you've learned
The key to BOLD is leveraging what you’ve learned--Don’t let all of those great ideas stay in Anaheim!
Once you’ve returned home, take time to do a solo business analysis. Review your notes, create a goal-oriented plan, and share what you’ve learned with the rest of your team. You may find you need additional support to implement your post-BOLD plan, which is exactly where a business consultant or coach can help.
Get ready for a great event
As both a fellow business owner and success coach, I look forward to seeing you at BOLD! Above all, I encourage you to be prepared, be present, and be ready to focus on your business goals. If you do, this year’s BOLD Conference could lead to being one of the BOLD-est moments of your business!
