As a business owner, you know that first impressions are important. However, in a hyper-digital and ultra-connected landscape, mobile accessibility holds equal significance. From booking an appointment to ordering Thai food, consumers expect to do just about anything with a few taps on their smartphones.
Make a great first impression and boost your mobile accessibility each time a new client visits your business. When you add a new customer to your software in Business Mode, you can send an automatic SMS (Short Message Service, i.e., text message) that includes a warm welcome and an invitation to download the MINDBODY app.
Smartphones have become an integral part of our personal and professional lives. In 2014, data compiled by JBH Marketing & Smart Insights revealed that more people accessed the web via mobile devices than desktop computers. Some studies indicate that mobile users check their phones upwards of 110 times per day on average. Can you remember the last time your phone wasn’t within arm’s reach? You might even be reading this blog from your mobile device right now!
Chances are your new clients have already interacted with your business from their phones. Maybe they looked up your address, read online reviews or confirmed class time. The point is: Your clients are not only mobile-savvy; they’re mobile-dependent. They’ve habituated to interacting with people and businesses from the palms of their hands.
Receiving a text is a ubiquitous experience for smartphone users. You don’t need a specific wireless provider, device or app to open one—just your phone. Plus, texts have a 98% open rate. Your clients are more than likely to open and read the welcome message, which is a plus for engagement with your business.
Why the MINDBODY app?
The welcome SMS you send to clients will have a link to download the MINDBODY app. Data compiled by Go-Globe revealed that 85% of people prefer mobile apps over mobile websites. In fact, from 2014 to 2015, the average time people spent on mobile apps increased by 21%, with time spent on health and fitness apps alone increasing by 51%.
On the MINDBODYapp, customers can see what classes and appointments you have available, as well as prices, staff bios, hours, contact info and more. Users can browse, book and pay for your services around the clock, whether your lights are on or your doors are closed for the day. How does it work?
When you add a new client from the top-left search bar of your site, you’ll notice a new “Communication” field. Click the drop-down menu to see what your client can be opted in to.
The "Send today" communications will send immediately after you add your client. The “Welcome email” is your New Client/Welcome Email (BUSINESS MODE) auto email, and the “Welcome SMS/text” is what’s new!
Make sure you enter the client’s phone number and email address in the Add a New Client form—the welcome text will not send unless both fields are completed.
Use the checkboxes to select which communication the client will receive, complete the form, and then click Create.
If you're not seeing some of these options, make sure you have the correct settings enabled on your site.
Important things to note:
- The text message will be sent from a toll-free 805 number.
- The content of the welcome text is not editable.
