What do you get when you combine two MINDBODY clients with charitable hearts? It’s not a riddle—it’s the rationale behind acoustic flow yoga at Tone Zone, a fitness studio in Conshohocken, PA.
When Leslie Needleman and her fiancé Scott Sorkin moved Tone Zone to a larger location in January, Michelle Bucci, owner of The Yoga Den, approached them to host a hot yoga session and raise funds for charitable causes. Michelle had been doing a similar program at The Yoga Den by featuring local singer-songwriter Jamie Salvatore.
“We loved the idea of promoting a local music talent and cross-promoting with Michelle, who is a fantastic yoga instructor,” Leslie said.
Since beginning the program, Tone Zone and The Yoga Den have raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Students Run Philly Style, a mentor organization to helping youth make positive and healthy life choices through training for marathon running. The next acoustic flow event will raise money for The Four Diamonds Fund, which fights pediatric cancer.
Leslie says that the community loves it. “At Tone Zone, we are known for tough workouts, and Michelle is the perfect yoga instructor to deliver just that. Everybody loves her style as we’re sweating more than we ever thought possible, and as our muscles are burning through her tough instruction, she manages to make us laugh and make sure we have a great time.”
When asked what she would recommend to other business owners looking to take on a charity event, Leslie recommends they use MINDBODY. “Creating the event and tracking sign-ups is a breeze, and being able to cap the limit so we are not overcrowded is vital for us. Also, since hosting events is a great way to get newcomers to the studio, MINDBODY makes it simple to credit each new person with three free trial classes to encourage them to come back.”
