5 Strategies to Survive the Holiday Season

As the holidays approach, it’s time to start thinking about how to prepare your studio, spa or salon for the season. Here are five quick tips you can implement in your business to help increase sales, reward customers and end the year in style.

  1. Utilize digital gift cards.
  2. It's no secret that gift cards are a popular holiday gift. In fact, 40% of gift cards purchased through MINDBODY are sold between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. With your MINDBODY software, it’s easy to take advantage of the gift card sales boom. You can turn on gift card sales through the MINDBODY App or your booking software.

  3. Make the most out of email.
  4. The holidays are a busy time—and your customers will be trying to balance their wellness needs with other priorities. Send an email reminding them of your holiday hours and closings, or offer them a special deal on a service package for me-time in the midst of holiday stress. Plus, with the Accelerate and Ultimate tiers of service, you can create an autoemail to reach out to your clients if they haven’t visited you in a while, allowing you to offer them a special holiday treat to return.

  5. Schedule an open house.
  6. Take advantage of when shoppers are out and about on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday by offering an open house—from ten-minute chair massages to a quick essential oils demo; the options are endless to give shoppers a break from the hustle and bustle. Or, if you want to give a taste of your regular classes, pick a separate day in November or December to have community classes to entice new customers to relax from holiday stress.

  7. Offer specials and introductory offers.
  8. The holidays are a great time to run special promotions to increase sales and reward your loyal customers. Offer a small gift card for the buyer to accompany a larger card purchased for a gift, or create a bring-a-friend campaign to kick-off January. If you create holiday introductory offers for new clients, your deals can even be featured within the MINDBODY app to help drive new traffic to your door.

  9. Don’t forget about New Year’s Resolutions.

While it's important to think of driving up sales in December, make sure that you don't forget to prepare for the bump in new members when January starts. If you have a class-based business, add extra classes to your schedule or increase class capacity. If you work at an appointment-based business, consider expanding the hours you take appointments or offer incentives for bookings on your slower days.
