At MBU

If I am a new MINDBODY client, is MBU appropriate for me?

There are now two levels of training offered at MBU. If you are a new user, attend the beginner level of MBU and learn how to become more proficient in the basic operations of the software. However, MBU should not be regarded as a replacement for your initial MINDBODY client training. You must be fundamentally proficient with MINDBODY and familiar with the basic operations of the software to benefit from MBU. MBU can help new clients run more profitable and efficient businesses and avoid many of the common mistakes that new businesses make.

If there are sessions that you do not think are relevant to your new business, you may choose to schedule a one-on-one during that time. If you are still unsure, please contact Nicole Chetaud to discuss your situation.

If I have been using MINDBODY for years, is MBU appropriate for me?

MINDBODY is being continuously improved and upgraded with new features, so even our most seasoned users find that they learn a lot at the “advanced track” at MBU. Business theory, best practices, marketing and financial reporting are areas even our longtime users find immensely helpful to review or explore in greater depth.

Networking with your peers and applying in-depth analysis and advanced marketing and management techniques can breathe new life into even the most well-established business. If you are still unsure, please contact Nicole Chetaud to discuss your situation.

Money is tight and/or it's difficult for me to get away, help?

We always offer a discount if you register in advance, so we highly recommend making the commitment in time for our Early Bird Discounts. We are sometimes able to offer payment plans, upon request. Please contact Nicole Chetaud directly if you’d like to make a request. We highly recommend attending MBU if you need or desire some time "away" to focus on your business. It will be enable to step away from the chaos of ownership and managing and connect with like-minded business people. That being said, we also offer some video options for those who absolutely cannot make it to our events. Check out the Business of Yoga videos or MBU on Demand for more information.

Help! I missed the early bird deadline. Can you extend it for me?

Early Bird discounts are only available before a set time for many reasons having to do with venue & staff expenses, and logistics of putting on MINDBODY University in each location. Unfortunately, once that date has passed, we are unable to extend the discount. We do offer an alumni discount of 20% and Premium Account client discount on regular price. Otherwise, we offer payment plans to help with cost.

Payment plans consist of 3 payments with payment amounts and dates will be decided by the client. All tuition must be paid in full (3) days before event start date. Please contact Nicole Chetaud, MBU Sales Program Manager for details and set up.

There are many ways you as the client are notified about Early Bird discounting prior to the deadline which includes multiple MBU e-blasts sent throughout the 6 months prior to each event, a monthly MBU e-Newsletter sent to all clients in our database, our MBU website, our MINDBODY, Inc. FaceBook page, and many other MBO newsletters which are sent out regularly to all clients.

Please read our venue information. We have reserved blocks of rooms at a discounted rate at many of our venues, but they will sell out fast, so book early. Make sure you tell the hotel that you are with MINDBODY to receive the discounted room rate. Book your rooms and flights as soon as possible. Travel and accommodations can be pricey and difficult to come by. We apologize, but not all events have discounted accommodations. Check out our online registration system to see if we are offering special rates for a particular event. View rate and contact information for our hotel and venue partners.

Please make sure your registration is complete and your spot at MBU is confirmed before booking travel and accommodations.

Can I share a room with another MBU participant?

If you would like to share a room, let us know and we will send out an email to interested MBU attendees with your contact information. However, we can't guarantee that we can find you a roommate.

Do I need to bring a laptop?

Yes, we require that you bring a laptop computer for the MBU online hands-on training sessions. We cannot provide laptops to borrow.

  • Wireless internet (Wifi) access is essential to this online training. Please make certain that your wifi access is up and running. If your general wifi access is not good, we recommend obtaining a backup method for wifi access like an Airport or a Wireless Access Card.
  • Check the general health and wellness of your laptop. Naturally, a sound and functioning laptop is critical to your ability to participate in online training. You will need ample power (and the ability to operate on battery as well as AC/corded power), and a solid internet browser and sufficient memory to run wifi, internet and Microsoft Office. (View all the system requirements for MINDBODY).
  • Make sure Microsoft Excel is up and running on your laptop and you are familiar with its basic functions. Excel is a vital partner to MINDBODY for data analysis and reporting features, and you will be using it for these purposes during training.
What are the one-on-ones?

The one-on-ones are an opportunity for you to address the specific needs of your business one-on-one with a senior MINDBODY team member. This can include technical questions or issues that you have with MINDBODY; marketing strategies; accounting and payroll; or financial reporting, to name a few.

Our team's expertise ranges from general business consulting to marketing, structural or technical consulting. The one-on-ones are offered to customize your MBU experience and make sure you get what you need.

Feedback from our participants rank one-on-ones as one of the best features of this training. To get the most out of your one-on-ones, we encourage you to prepare in advance by determining the key points of your business where you could best use expert support, and to come prepared with specific questions, issues and supporting materials.

What can I do to prepare for MBU?

  • Complete your online registration survey.
  • Plan your schedule, by booking labs and one on one appointment before coming to MBU.
  • Confirm your travel and hotel arrangements.
  • We encourage you to read The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work And What to Do About It, by Michael E. Gerber. It's an excellent analysis of the challenges that 21st century business owners face.
  • Be pro-active. Devote a little time to thinking about your goals for MBU. What are your strengths and weaknesses? What are you hoping to learn? Clarity on these questions is one of the best things you can do to make MBU work for you.
