    Rick Stollmeyer

    Born into the fourth generation of a retail business family, Rick was a "rebel" and left all that to pursue a life of adventure on the high seas. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, with a degree in Political Science and Russian Language, and was commissioned a naval officer at the age of 21. Rick did indeed get to travel the high seas — mostly under water aboard a Navy submarine. He saw a great deal of the world through a periscope, before leaving the service in 1993. Rick then pursued a career in engineering sales and project management, before discovering his life's work in the summer of 2000.

    The family entrepreneurial spirit had never left Rick. Inspired by the work of an old friend who was creating custom desktop software for yoga and Pilates studios, Rick founded MINDBODY, Inc. with a singular vision. He believed that business software could be less expensive, more reliable and far more powerful if it was designed for and delivered over the internet. Most importantly, Rick saw that online software would give small service businesses the operational advantages and marketing power previously enjoyed only by large companies."The Internet is the ultimate democratizer. It levels the playing field for small businesses in innumerable ways", he says. "In the world of personal services -- particularly fitness studios, spas and salons -- we believe the results will be transformational. Just as everyone goes online now to book a flight or hotel, every personal service imaginable will soon be found, compared, scheduled and paid for on the Internet. Making that capability easy and affordable for the small business owner is our mission at MINDBODY."

    Outside of his day job as primary futurist at MINDBODY Inc, Rick practices Gyrotonics & yoga, and enjoys camping, waterskiing, dirt bike riding and spending time with his wife Lori and three children. The family lives near San Luis Obispo, California, where MINDBODY is headquartered.

    Robert Murphy

    Bob is our “man from the other side”, having used MINDBODY Yoga as an studio owner for five years. He has watched and contributed to our program from its infancy to the current ASP version. Bob brings with him successful entrepreneurial skills, having created a real estate company, and an online commercial real estate database company that became the second largest online data provider, and subsequently sold during the dot com era.

    Bob joined MINDBODY, Inc. in 2005 as our Executive Vice President in charge of marketing and sales. He moved over from Yoga Works, where he was Director of New York Operations.

    Before Yoga Works he owned and operated Be Yoga for four years with his wife, Beverley Murphy, and Alan Finger. He helped grow the business three fold, helping create one of the largest studios and teacher trainings in the country. Bob holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Boston University.

    He enjoys his yoga practice (especially Beverley’s classes), golf games, and spending time with his three children.
