Each one of your staff members has their own pay rate table. We've tried to come up with every possible scenario a business would use to pay an employee for teaching a class or a workshop.
Rates 1-2 and Rates 9 -16
These rates are per class rates with the option of a bonus per head over a specified number of heads.
Example: You pay a yoga teacher $20 per class. But to reward your high-volume yoga teachers, you pay them an additional $4 per head for every student over 20. However, you still want limitations. You can set a Min (dollar amount) and Max (dollar amount) for how little or much you want to pay staff.
- 19 students show up, teacher gets paid: $20
- 20 students show up, teacher gets paid: $20
- 21 students show up, teacher gets paid: $24
- 22 students show up, teacher gets paid: $28
Rates 3 -4
These are per head rates with an optional bonus per head over a specified number of heads.
Example: You pay your yoga teacher $4 per student. To reward your high-volume teachers, you pay a bonus of $2 for every additional student over 20.This means that student number 21, 22, 23, etc? will earn the teacher $6 instead of just $4.
- 0 students show up, your teacher doesn't get paid anything.
- 5 students show up, your teacher gets paid $20
- 20 students show up, your teacher gets paid $80
- 21 students show up, your teacher gets paid $106 (the 21st student earns them $26)
Rates 5-6
These two rates pays a per head rate for every person in the class when the value is met. This is different from rates 3-4, which pays a bonus based not on everyone in the class, but just the people who came in after the threshold was met.
Example: If you pay a $1 bonus per head for a class over 30, then a class of 31 people will generate a $31 bonus for the instructor. A class of 35 people will generate a $35 bonus for the instructor. If only 30 people attend, then the instructor will not receive a bonus.
Rates 7-8 and 19-21
These are incremental rates. If you pay your teachers using this kind of matrix, then they are paid a flat rate depending on the amount of students that they bring in.
Example: You pay teachers $20 if they bring in at least five people. You pay them $25 if they bring in 6-10 people. And $30 if they bring in 11-15 people.
If you want, you can change the increments from 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, to whatever you want.
Here's how:
- Log in as the owner
- Follow this path: Toolbox => Setup => Staff
- Click the Pay Rate Descriptions link in the right corner.
- Change the increments.
- Press Update Pay Rate Descriptions to save changes.
Rates 17 and 18
These are percentage pay rates, which the teacher is paid a percentage of the revenue per visit brought in for the class. Percentage pay rates are not recommended if you have monthly memberships or other time based visits. It makes the teacher's pay rate unpredictable. The more clients use a month-long membership card, the less the teacher will make. This is because the revenue per visit for unlimited class cards decreases as the pass is used.
Example: If a monthly unlimited card cost $100 and the teacher receives 20%, the first visit will earn the teacher 20% of $100, the second visit will earn the teacher 20% of $50, the third visit will earn the teacher 20% of $33.33 and so on.
