Membership Options Screen

By default, the first time you open this screen, you are editing the only membership tier you have in existence: the membership tier that exists by default in the system. The red "M" icon is checked. Below is an explanation of everything on the new Membership Options screen.

 

• View/Edit Radio Button - In the upper right corner, this button lets you edit existing memberships. By default, the screen opens in this view.
• Add New Radio Button - Located in the upper right corner, this button allows you to add a new membership tier.
• Select Membership dropdown: By default, it says "Membership Series." Once you change a membership's name, the change will be reflected in this dropdown's list of names. Every time you add a new membership, it appears here.
• Color icons -Each membership can have a unique icon, which will be displayed beside every member's name throughout the system. For clients in countries where the word "membership" doesn't start with an "M," we have new M-less icons to choose from.
• Membership Name - You can give the membership a name, which you'll later assign to a series.
• Sort Order/Priority - The number you enter here doesn't just sort the memberships listed on the Series/Memberships screens, it gives the memberships a pecking order. Memberships ranked higher (1 = highest) completely overshadow the lower (99 = lowest) ranked memberships. So, if a client has a Gold Membership with a level 1 priority, and a Silver Membership with a level 2 priority, the client won't enjoy any of the benefits of the Silver Membership, just the Gold Membership.
• Members Discount for Retail Products - This is the discounted percentage members will receive off of all product prices. After setting this amount, you also need to mark which products are eligible for discounts (explained below).
• Members Discount for Services - This is the discounted percentage members will get off the price of your services. Even with this enabled, you must still designate which series are eligible for this discount (more below).
• Enable Exclusive Member Programs - If you allow clients to book services online, then highlighting programs in this multi-select box will restrict online scheduling of these programs just to clients with this active membership.
  • Nothing Highlighted - If you don't highlight any of these programs, then all clients and members can take services with this program.
  • Some Highlighted - If you just highlight a few programs, then only members with this membership (and others like it) can book themselves (in consumer mode) for highlighted programs. Non-highlighted programs can be taken by members and clients.
  • All Highlighted - Only members with this --or possibly other-- membership(s) can book themselves for services online. Clients will not be able to book services online (consumer mode).
• Restrict Self Sign In to Members Only ? - If this is checked, then your Self-Sign Screen will only allow clients with this membership to sign themselves into classes, appointments, or workshops. If you check this box and the client doesn't have this membership, they will need you or a staff member to sign them in using the Sign-In screen.
• Allow Members to Book Appointments Without Paying? - Check this, and any client with this membership can book an appointment online without having to pay for it first (obviously, they need to pay for it once they are at your business).
• Allow Members to Purchase Non-Member Products & Services - When this box is checked, members with this membership can purchase products and services not designated just for members, i.e., members can buy all of the normal stuff in your system. Most memberships should have this box checked.
• Add New Button (at bottom of screen, only appears when adding new memberships)- Adds the new membership that you just configured.
• Update Button (at bottom of screen, only appears when editing new memberships) - Saves changes for an existing membership.

 

To start using tiered memberships that you created on the Membership Options screen, create a new series (or look up an existing series) and change the "Type:" dropdown box to the new membership that you created (pictured above).

 

Series & Memberships Location: Toolbox => Setup => Pricing => Series & Memberships

In the past, the Series & Memberships screen (and the Manage Product screens) had two checkboxes: "Members Only" and "Members Discount." With this new feature, these checkboxes have been replaced with multi-select boxes (pictured below) displaying all memberships. If a product or series is granted membership perks, hold down your computer's Ctrl key (Apple key on Macs) and select the memberships inside the "Members Only" or "Members Discount" multi-select boxes.

You should also highlight the memberships that earn discounts inside of each product's Manage Product screen, which can be looked up here:

 

• Toolbox => Products => Manage Products (look up a product)

If you have different membership series already in your system, then it's easy to move forward with this new feature. Simply create a membership tier for each membership series that you already offer. Then, go into your Series & Memberships screen and assign the new membership tier's "Type:" to each of your existing memberships. That way, if you have Platinum, Gold, Silver, Red, Green, Premium, etc... memberships currently set up, following this suggestion will instantly give unique icons and rules to each membership, even if you created the membership series before this release.
