Commissions

1. You look up the staff member's account here: Toolbox => Setup => Staff => Staff Management
2. Click on the link in the upper right titled " Class / Hourly Rates"
3. At the bottom of the screen, there are two places where you can set commission percentages for Rate 17 and 18.
4. (Optional) At the top of this screen you can choose either 17 or 18 as your default rate.
5. Save changes on this screen.
6. Now, when you schedule classes or workshop, you can choose Rate 17 or Rate 18 for the Teachers Pay Rate.

 

• These are percentage pay rates. The teacher is paid a percentage of the revenue per visit brought in for the class or workshop. Percentage pay rates are not recommended if you have monthly memberships or other time based visits. It makes the teacher's pay rate unpredictable. The more clients use a month-long membership card, the less the teacher will make. This is because the revenue per visit for unlimited class cards decreases as the pass is used.  
• Example of why time-based series cause problems with this pay rate: If a monthly unlimited card cost $100 and the teacher receives 20%, the first visit will earn the teacher 20% of $100, the second visit will earn the teacher 20% of $50, the third visit will earn the teacher 20% of $33.33 and so on.

 

To see how much commission this employee earned

Follow this menu path: Reports => Staff => Payroll

 

1. Look up the staff member's account here: Toolbox => Setup => Staff => Staff Management
2. Click on the link at the top titled " Appt Rates & Booking Times"
3. Set how much you pay your staff for each type of Appointment.

 

To see how much commission this employee earned

Follow this menu path: Reports => Staff => Payroll

Enable Commissions

1. Log in as the owner (or as someone with enough permissions)
2. Follow this path: Toolbox => Setup => Options => General Setup & Options
3. On the General Setup & Options screen, check the box beside "Commissions" in the Retail Settings Sections
4. Click Update at the bottom of the screen.
5. Refresh your browser

 

Tell the system what employees earn commission

1. Follow this menu path: Toolbox => Setup => Staff => Staff Management
2. Look up the person who can earn a commission
3. On the right side of the screen, check the box next to the words "Earns Commissions"
4. Click Update at the bottom of the screen

 

Tell the system how much this client makes every time they sell a product or series

1. You look up the staff member's account here: Toolbox => Setup => Staff => Staff Management
2. Click on the link in the upper right titled " Class / Hourly / Commission Rates"

• Standard Commission: This is the single commission rate that employees receive every time something is sold through the point of sale.
• Promo Commission: This is just a second commission rate. Some businesses use it during heavy selling periods, such as the holidays, to temporarily add more commission to employees.

 

Tell the system what series & memberships earn commissions

1. Follow this menu path: Toolbox => Setup => Pricing => Series & Memberships
2. Look up a series or membership that your employee can sell to earn a commission
3. At the bottom of the series, enter 0 in the % box for "Standard Commission:"
4. Click "Update Series & Membership" 

 

*This step seems moot, but the system won't allow a series to be sold for a commission unless there is at least some number in the percentage box... even if this number is zero. Adding the zero triggers the series to be sold on the Retail tab.

 

Giving someone commission from a sale

1. Click on the Retail tab
2. Look up an item.
3. A Commissions drop-down box will appear with people you have told the system that can be assigned commissions.
4. Choose the person who is getting the commission for the sale of this item.
5. Add item to ticket.
6. Choose payment method.
7. Save the sale.

 

To see how much commission this employee earned

To edit commissions after the sale is recorded 

The Edit Sale page has dropdown boxes at the bottom that move commissions from one employee to another. You can also split commissions (and un-split commissions) on the same screen.

 

To edit the commission for a sale:

1. Click on the Sale ID that you want to edit
2. Click on the Edit button at the bottom of the Manage Sales screen
3. Observe the new section at the bottom that lets you edit commissions
