Backbar Deductions
Disambiguation: Backbar Charge, Payroll Deductions
Your Session Types screen has a column titled Backbar Charge that dials into your staffs' payroll. The price you place in this new column will be subtracted from the Session Type price before the staff member's percentage or flat pay is applied.
- Example #1: Payroll Deductions for Salons
- With this feature, you can charge employees for using product before their payroll is actually calculated. For example, if you charge a beauty therapist $3 for the product she uses with every men's haircut, then you could create a payroll deduction of $3 for the session type Men's Haircut. If the therapist also earns 70-percent of each men's haircut, then you could enter 70-percent on her Appointment Rates & Booking Times screen.
The formula for the beauty therapist's percentage pay looks something like this:
(Sessions Type Price $35 - Payroll Deduction $3) x Percentage Pay 70% = Therapists Pay $22.40
- Example #2: Payroll Deductions for Spas
- If a single deep tissue massage costs your clients $120 an hour; and you charge your therapists a $20 Room Usage fee (enter this amount into the Payroll Deduction column) for giving 60-minute massages; and the therapist gets 70-percent of the total massage price after the $20 fee is deducted; then this feature would help you determine that a therapist gets $70 for giving a 60-minute deep tissue massage.
The formula for the massage therapist's percentage pay looks something like this:
(Sessions Type Price $120 - Payroll Deduction $20) x Percentage Pay 70% = Therapists Pay $70
